I'm sure you've imagined those first few moments at home with baby to be magic. Maybe you've even fantasized about bonding with your baby, skin-to-skin, in the comfort of your own bed, or having guests over to whisper sweet nothings to your newest addition as they meet for first time.

Here at Northeast Doulas we are here to tell you what nobody else will.

Bringing home baby kinda stinks.

Babies are notorious for throwing parents off with their digestive systems.

We'll start with gas.

Many parents know to expect an influx of gas when baby is earth side. However, most parents are not educated on the why behind it. So we'll start with that.

As with all gas, the cause is linked to too...Read more

Now that your baby is here and settled in at home, you’re probably anxious to get out of those maternity clothes and back into your favorite skinny jeans.

Remembering to eat a full meal, or even something green is a challenge and taking on a brand new diet might seem overwhelming to add onto your to-do list.Carrying a baby with one hand and trying to use the other to prepare snacks and meals that actually keep you on the right track can be easier said than done. You’ve got a lot on your plate as it is, but eating right doesn’t have to be complicated, stressful or even difficult.

You might be surprised what indulgences can actually be doing your body good.

Dairy isn’t always scary.

Research found that a lack of calcium actually triggers fat cells to store fat and get bigger. Since dairy products are known to be a rich source of calcium, nutritionists are taking a closer look at how dairy really affects our ability to live a healthier lifestyle.

New studies show that people taking a calcium supplement while watching their calorie intake experienced 38% more lost body fat. Another controlled group boosted their dairy intake while reducing their daily calories and experienced 64% more fat and body weight lost.

So supplements are great, but sometimes they’re no match for the real thing.

Keep an eye on calories but don’t let them consume you, and incorporate fresh foods and even some treats you thought were off...Read more

If you're expecting your first baby, one of you biggest most important questions may be...

Will my vagina go back to normal after my baby is born?

It might be hard to believe you can push a watermelon sized person out of there and everything will go right back to normal. No matter who your partner is, nothing this size has ever entered your vagina!

In most cases, the answer to this frequently asked question, is yes! Because your muscles and tissue does a remarkably good job of bouncing back.

Our bodies are crazy, right!?

There are actually a lot of different factors that determine how "back to normal" your vagina will be after you give birth.

Genetics, your baby's size, the number of children you've had, whether or not you experienced any tearing during birth and whether or not you had an episiotomy.

A wise obstetrician half jokingly shared that "The integrity of the vagina and tissue around it is amazing! If you put two pieces of vagina in the same room, they merge together! The healing a vagina can do on its own is unbelievable.

Let's believe in our vaginas! Let's believe that they are strong and capable and that...Read more

Last Wednesday Northeast Doulas headed to Dutchess Stadium to raise awareness and collect donations for No Child Wet Behind at The Renegades baseball game! The Renegades' 'Collection for a Cause' program allows non-profits the chance to meet local families and spread the word about their cause.

Northeast Doulas was proud to partner with The Renegades to offer families $1 admission tickets for every pack of diapers they donated to the No Child Wet Behind non-profit organization. Collections from this event went directly to the Westchester Diaper Bank and into the hands of families desperately in need of diapers for their children.

Co-owner of Northeast Doulas, Debbie Aglietti even threw the first pitch! She’s the 2017 draft pick with her Renegades hat on.
